Once again every year we look forward to Springfestival in Graz, Austria – and for the second time in a row the festival takes place under pandemic conditions as an online event, but at least the local crew have been there and tried to push the vibe a bit forward. This time this event took place from June 02 to 06, 2021.

The initiators had again chosen impressive locations: the Open Air Museum Stübing with the sets of Blockoland and Claptone, the Erzberg Eisenberg featuring Pan-Pot and Mischkonsum as well as the Landeszeughaus Graz, where Kayoz and Meilenstein were performing.

I had the chance to watch Blockoland for the first time at the Springfestival Graz 2020 and was impressed. He had a cohesive set, the transitions were perfect, and the track selection was top notch. About Blockoland

Already DJing since 2007, Blockoland has taken advantage of the „Great Dark Time“ that came upon the world with the pandemic and produced remixes and a whole series of tracks that he hopes to present to us in the second half of 2021. At the beginning, the „Block Collective“ was made up of three people, two people took care of the DJ sets, a third person was responsible for the visual design, but today Blockloand plays under this name mostly alone, but from time to time his old buddy sporadically joins in.

Then the guys really kick ass, as they did a few weeks ago at the Postgarage in Graz, but of course this always requires a certain preparation, so it doesn’t work completely spontaneously.

Since 2007 Blockloand has continuously developed his style, his sets, which are somehow located between Minimal TechHouse, Drum & Beat and „twisted AfroHouse“, as Blockoland has aptly described it himself, have a lot of charm with a strong pinch of ethnic influences and are impressive with a more than just well done track selection. Blockoland’s selection is always convincing across the line, as the tracklist impressively shows:

Image quality:

DanceTelevision has – as in the previous year – taken over the visual realization and also the distribution on various channels, for example as a simultaneous broadcast on DanceTelevision itself including all available apps, as well as on Facebook and also on YouTube.
This allowed the organizers to drastically increase the reach, even though the weather was lousy and rainy this time and therefore there was no talk of brilliance this time. Besides, the green headlights were annoying, because that’s why Blockoland appeared as green as Hulk sometimes.

In all other respects, picture quality at 1080p was very good, with quite good sharpness values.

Sound Quality

The sound quality was quite good at 192 kbps / AAC. The bass range was well structured and reached down low, midrange and treble frequencies all were OK.

The Bottom Line:

Blockoland’s DJ set at the SpringFestival Graz 2021 was extremely impressive and convincing with a perfect track selection as well as absolute top class transitions, the whole set appeared as if it was made out of the same mould, without any breaks or mistakes.

Alle Jahre wieder freuen wir uns auf das Springfestival in Graz, Österreich – und zum zweiten Male hinter einander findet das Festival unter Pandemiebedingungen als Online-Event statt, doch wenigstens war die Crew vor Ort dabei und hat versucht, die Stimmung etwas nach vorne zu bringen. Diesmal ging dieser Event vom 02. bis 06. Juni 2021 über die Bühne.

Die Macher hatten sich auch diesmal wieder beeindruckende Locations ausgesucht: das Freilichtmuseum Stübing mit den Sets von Blockoland und Claptone, den Erzberg Eisenberg featuring Pan-Pot and Mischkonsum sowie das Landeszeughaus Graz, an dieser Location sind Kayoz und Meilenstein aufgetreten.

Blockoland hatte ich erstmals beim Springfestival Graz 2020 erleben dürfen und war begeistert. Sein Set war wie aus einem Guß, die Übergänge waren perfekt, die Trackauswahl erstklassig. Und so ganz anders als, das was man sich noch so während des Festivals antun konnte. Über Blockoland

Blockoland ist schon sei 2007 als DJ unterwegs und hat die „Große Dunkle Zeit“, die mit der Pandemie weltweit Einzug gehalten hat, genutzt und Remixe und eine ganze Reihe von Tracks produziert, die er uns hoffentlich im zweiten Halbjahr 2021 präsentieren kann. Anfangs war das „Blockkollektiv“ zu dritt unterwegs, zwei Leute kümmerten sich um die DJ-Sets, eine dritte Person zeichnete für die visuelle Gestaltung verantwortlich, heute jedoch spielt Blockloand unter diesem Namen weitestgehend allein, doch hin und wieder stößt sein alter Kumpel sporadisch hinzu.

Und dann legen die Jungs so richtig los, wie vor ein paar Wochen in der Postgarage in Graz, doch dafür braucht es natürlich immer auch eine gewisse Vorbereitung, so ganz spontan funktioniert das auch nicht.

Blockoland’s 2021 Set beim Springfestival Graz 2021

Seit 2007 hat Blockoland seinen Stil kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt, seine Sets, die irgendwie zwischen Minimal TechHouse, Drum & Beat und „verspultem AfroHouse“, wie Blockoland dies selbst treffend bezeichnet hat, verortet sind, haben mit einer kräftigen Priese ethnischer Einflüsse mächtig viel Charme und überzeugen mit einer mehr als nur gelungenen Trackauswahl. Die Auswahl bei Blockoland überzeugt immer auf der gesamten Linie, wie Euch die Tracklist eindrucksvoll beweist:

Bildqualität:

DanceTelevision hat – wie schon im Vorjahr – die visuelle Umsetzung und auch die Verbreitung auf diversen Kanälen übernommen, so z.B. wie simultan bei DanceTelevision selbst mit allen verfügbaren Apps, auf Facebook und auch auf YouTube.
Damit konnte die Veranstalter den Reach (die Reichweite) drastisch steigern, auch wenn das Wetter diesmal mies und regnerisch war und von Brillianz keine Rede sein konnte. Außerdem waren die grünen Scheinwerfer nervend, denn daher erschien Blockoland streckenweise so grün wie Hulk.

Ansonsten war Bildqualität mit 1080p sehr gut, mit recht brauchbaren Schärfewerten.

Klangqualität

Die Klangqualität war recht gut und lag bei 192 kbps / AAC. Der Bassbereich war gut strukturiert und reichte tief hinab, Mitten und Hochtonbereich waren okay.

Fazit:

Blockolands DJ-Set auf dem Springfestival Graz 2021 war überaus beeindruckend und überzeugte mit einer perfekten Trackauswahl und Übergängen der absoluten Extraklasse, das ganze Set erschienen wie aus einem Guss, ohne Brüche und Fehler.
